The following are some Frequently Asked Questions. If you do
not find the answer you are looking for here about our company,
products & services, please feel free to contact
us!
Is it really a free system?
Yes. The equipment and installation are free.
We only ask for the $99 activation fee and that we be allowed
to monitor your system for the first 36-months.
Isn't that the same thing?
No. Regardless of the cost of the equipment
you would have to pay for the monitoring service.
Do I have to have it monitored?
No. If you do not want monitoring service
you can purchase the equipment and installation at our retail
price.
Do I need monitoring?
Yes, we definitely recommend monitoring service.
An alarm system is only valuable if the proper authorities are
notified when there is an emergency.
Why is ADT Monitoring
Service better?
ADT has the largest and most professional
monitoring centers in the world. All of their monitoring centers
are UL (Underwriters Laboratory) Certified, and the staff is
trained to UL standards. ADT's monitoring centers also have
back-up power generating capability and monitoring capability.
They have truly set the standard for quality service.
What's the difference between hardwire
and wireless equipment? Which is better?
Hardwire is older technology and the major
difference is that it requires a technician to run wiring throughout
your home from the control panel to the sensors. It can be messy
and the chance of damage to your home is greatly increased.
Hardwire systems still work, but they lack some of the newer
convenience and technology that wireless equipment offers, such
as the key chain remote that allows you to arm and disarm your
system by the touch of a buttom. With a wireless system, there
is less mess because the communication is achieved via radio
signal and does not require wires to be run from the panel to
the sensors. It also takes a lot less time to install.
Do I have to sign a contract?
To receive the free equipment and installation, we do require
you to sign a contract.
After my contract with ADT ends, do
I have to return the equipment?
No. Once your contract expires, we hope that
you have enjoyed the security and service we have provided,
however, you are under no further obligation and the equipment
is yours to keep.
Are your monitoring rates guaranteed?
Our rates, like most other businesses, are
primarily regulated by the competition. We know that if we were
to raise our rates dramatically above the others in our field
we would not be able to succeed. Therefore, we do not guarantee
to never increase our rates, but we do promise to always give
our customers fair market value.
What happens if I move?
We offer several options to our customers incase of a move.
We can easily move your system into your new home as statistics
have shown that once you experience the comfort our professional
security systems provide you will want to maintain that protection.
As security is one of the most sought after amenities in a
home, we can usually transfer the monitoring agreement to the
new homeowners, in which case you are released from any additional
responsibility.
If the above options do not work for you, you can also pay
off your contract before the 36-month term is complete.
Who will service my system?
We at HomeStar Security offer a 90-day warranty.
In addition to our warranty, ADT offers lifetime maintenance
on parts and labor for a $25 trip charge as long as you are
an ADT customer.
Will my pets affect the system?
Your pets should not affect your system. Our
motion sensors are “pet immune” and our technicians
are experienced with working around pets.
What if there are false alarms?
You should not have any false alarms. Statistics
show that homeowners are the cause of a majority of false alarms.
It is important that you and anyone with access to your home
(including your emergency contact numbers) take a few minutes
to learn how to use the system properly. Taking these steps
will help you to eliminate false alarms.
Does the city charge me if there are
false alarms?
Each city has a different policy. Most will
fine homeowners if there are repeated false alarms. If you have
a false alarm, the best way to avoid being fined is to call
the monitoring center. They will be able to call off the authorities.
